The Governor of Cross River, Senator Bassey Otu, has called on the state judiciary to cooperate and expedite justice with fairness.
He explained that his appeal has become imperative in order to build a complete new relationship and continuous synergy among the various arms of government.
Otu spoke when the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Akon Ikpeme and members of the inner bench visited him in his office in Calabar.
Otu said that there are too many issues in the state to grapple with presently, adding that if the judiciary cooperates with the executive arm, the task of governance will be made easier.
“Moving forward, I want to appeal that we should all work together to see how we give Cross River State a chance to grow.
“We are working to make sure that our people benefit, not just from dividends of democracy, but that of responsibilities as leaders,” the governor said.
Otu, who had earlier directed that official cars of senior judges that have lasted for a couple of years be immediately replaced, assured that before the end of the week, the directive will be fully implemented.
Addressing the governor earlier, the Chief Judge of the State said his electoral victory has brought a new dawn to the state.
She assured that the judiciary, which she heads, will work with total commitment to discharge its functions.
